Using a foam brush, paint the gradations of your prepared colors in a striped pattern, starting with the lightest shade and working up to the darkest. Each time you switch colors, overlap the first and last brushstrokes of each color. You may need to go over the overlapped areas with a semidry brush to aid the blending process.
